Harriet has been jumping into lakes and seas to swim from a young age, and has always had an affinity with swimming in natural spaces. From Easter holidays swimming as a child on the Welsh coast, to taking a dip in Scottish lochs, Harriet has always enjoyed swimming outdoors, for both physical and mental health benefits.
As an adult, she has completed a number of sprint and Olympic distance triathlons, both in the UK and in Europe, which give her a depth of experience from starting as a beginner triathlete, to being more experienced in the hustle and bustle of a mass start swim.
Over the years, Harriet has put this ever-expanding knowledge and skillset to use in helping people attempt open water swimming for the first time. This has been utilised by a variety of athletes, ranging from first-time triathletes building their open water confidence, endurance and sighting skills, to CrossFit athletes wanting experience for outdoor competitions. She has also helped a number of people take up open water swimming for mental health benefits, and general health and wellbeing.
Harriet’s passion is in aiding beginners to open water swimming. Whether that be in preparation for a first open water triathlon, or for aiding general health and fitness, she loves helping swimmers make the transition from pools to the open water environment. Her sessions are primarily on a 1-2-1 or small group basis, depending on the ability and experience of the swimmer. Ultimately, Harriet wants to encourage everyone who can swim to give open water a go, and to see for themselves how enjoyable it is!
