Just one month on since contacting AquaPaddle, our very first participants gathered at the Swimmer’s Hut with their boards and boats ready. Following a warm welcome and safety briefing from the the crew, they paddled their way over to the starting point, buoyancy aids adorned with freshly printed number tags.
With an enthusiastic countdown and blow of the whistle, AquaPaddle at Alderford Lake was underway. Thirteen paddleboarders and two kayakers were soon spread out around the first bay.
Grant led the way throughout and was first to cross the line, before cheering on the rest of the group. We learnt a valuable lesson to use more visible markers next time, after he mistook a duck for a buoy!
This was the first time paddling five kilometres for many of the participants. Despite the challenge, it was all smiles as everyone finished the five laps.
Well done to everyone who took part, we hope you’ll be back next time to beat your PB! Also a massive thank you to Hannah and Griff at AquaPaddle Lincoln, for kindly allowing us to shadow your event and prepare for our launch.
