Accessible parking on arrival
Disabled parking is available on site.
As you enter, turn left and you will find a dedicated disabled parking area. We can also open the barriers for vehicles with larger disabled access requirements.
There are 6 disabled parking spaces available.
Getting around Alderford
All buildings at Alderford are ground floor only.
There are a small number of steps around site, but there are ramps available for these areas.
The outdoor toilets do have a small step, while indoor disabled toilets are available for easier access.

Toilets and practical facilities
There is a disabled toilet inside the cafe. It is spacious, fitted with railings, and easy to reach through the main front entrance, just on the left-hand side.
Outdoor toilets and showers are also available on site.
Carer tickets and accepted proof
Alderford no longer offers a blue light discount.
Carer tickets are available for most activities, and proof must be shown at the admissions desk:
- Attendance Allowance Award
- Carer’s Allowance Award
- Disability Living Allowance Letter
- Personal Independence Payments
- Armed Forces Independence Payments
- Valid blue badge
Terrain and sensory notes
At the entrance to Alderford there is a gravel path for around 10 metres, which then changes into a natural grass or dirt path.
The route around the lake can be uneven and muddy depending on recent rainfall.
The cafe usually has background music during opening hours, and the site can feel louder on busy days. Loud speakers are not allowed around the lake, but if you are sensitive to noise it may help to bring ear defenders. Alderford does not currently have hearing loops installed.
Do you charge for parking?
Yes, due to a large investment on the driveway & parking areas, we now charge for parking.
Parking fees are as follows:
Up to 3 hours – Free
Up to 4 hours – £3.00
All Day £5.00
Are dogs allowed?
Yes, well behaved dogs are more than welcome. Please keep your dog on a lead, unless they have good recall.
Dogs can swim in the lake however please ensure they are kept on a lead, unless they have good recall. Please keep them away from other lake users.
Is the cafe dog friendly?
Yes, the café is dog friendly however we do ask that they are kept on the lead.
Do you do discount for disabled visitors and carers?
Yes, carers get free admission onto site and discounted tickets for events
You must have proof of eligibility.
Do you have any changing facilities?
Yes, we have outdoor changing cubicles.
