Accessibility at Alderford

Car Parking

Firstly, we have disabled parking available on site. As you enter the carpark, proceed down the right-hand most lane and the disabled parking spaces can be found at the end of the row, closest to the entrance. We have 6 disabled parking spaces available.

Access

At Alderford all buildings are ground floor only. We do have a small number of steps around site, such as the entrance to the Farm Shop, but we have a ramp available for this. Our outdoor toilets do have a small step, but we have indoor disabled toilets available.

Toilets

We have a disabled toilet in our cafe which is spacious and equipped with railings and is easily accessible as you come through the front door of the cafe, it is just on your left. We also have outdoor toilets and showers available on site.

If you have a blue light card, please use the discount code “bluelight” at checkout and you will be asked to show proof when you arrive. This will get you 5% off

You are able to purchase carers tickets for most of our activities. You must bring proof with you to be checked at our Admissions desk. We accept; Attendance Allowance Award, Carer’s Allowance Award, Disability Living Allowance Letter, Personal Independence Payments, Armed Forces Independence Payments, or a valid blue badge.

Terrain

Upon the entrance to Alderford we do have a gravel path, which lasts around 10 metres. The terrain then goes to a nature grass/ dirt path. The path around the lake can be uneven and muddy, depending on recent rainfall.

Sounds

The cafe does usually have background music on during opening hours. On busy days, the site can become loud, although we don't allow loud speakers around the lake. If you struggle with loud surroundings it may be a good idea to bring along ear defenders. Unfortunately, Alderford does not have hearing loops installed.
