The basics and age rules

Have you always wanted to try paddleboarding? Here is your chance.

Alderford’s SUP taster session is a relaxing and fun way to try paddle boarding for the first time. You will be shown the basics and then led straight onto the water for a fun-filled session while enjoying the scenic lake views. Sessions are run by Alderford’s paddlesports instructors. The minimum age for standard SUP lessons is 13, and all participants must be able to swim 50 metres confidently.

Sessions are 1 hour long and are delivered with one instructor and up to 8 participants.

Paddleboard, paddle, buoyancy aid & wetsuit are included for the hour lesson.

Team Building at Alderford Lake

1:1 lessons and family sessions

If the standard group session is not the right fit, Alderford also offers 1:1 tuition and family-led sessions.

Taster sessions are typically one instructor to eight participants, but 1:1 paddleboard lessons are available for visitors who want to improve technique and become more confident on the board. Private family sessions are recommended for younger children. The minimum age for 1:1 lessons and family sessions is 4 years old, and the child must be able to fit into an Alderford buoyancy aid. Booking for these options currently routes through enquiries@alderford.com.

We can also offer 1:1 kayaking lessons, with specialist instructors available to improve your skills or get you started on your kayaking journey
