Paddleboard Lessons

The Basics

Have you always wanted to try paddleboarding? Well, here is your chance! Our SUP taster session is a relaxing and fun way of try paddle boarding for the first time. You will be shown the basics and then be led straight onto the water, for a fun-filled session. All while enjoying the scenic views the lake has to offer. Our sessions are run by the British Canoeing qualified Paddleboard Instructors and they will join you on the lake to give you any pointers and tips you may need!

Age Rules

The minimum age to book onto our stand-up paddleboard (SUP) lessons is 13-years. If you have younger children, then we recommend booking a private family session. These are available on request, please email us on enquiries@alderford.com for more information. All participants must be able to swim 50m confidently. Minimum age for 1:1 lessons and family sessions is 4 years old and the child must be able to fit into an Alderford buoyancy aid

1:1 Lessons

Our taster sessions are typically 1 instructor to 8 participants. However, we do also offer 1:1 paddleboard lessons, which is the perfect way to improve on your technique and become more confident on your board. Our instructors are British Canoeing qualified and super friendly, and are keen to help! You can book this by emailing enquiries@alderford.com. Minimum age is 4 years old and the child must be able to fit into an Alderford buoyancy aid.

Become a Lifeguard

At Alderford, we often run Open Water Lifeguard qualifications which equip open water lifeguards with the skills required to supervise and provide rescue in still or non tidal waters.

Every candidate participating in an OWL course at Alderford must:

  • Be 16 years old or over at the time of the assessment
  • Be competent and confident in open water
  • Be able to submerge under the water confidently
  • Before the course, candidates must be able to swim at least 400 metres in a pool/open water continuously on their front and show urgency.

There is not currently an Open Water Lifeguard Course scheduled yet this year. We will update this when dates are published.
