Open Water Training Courses

Alderford Lake offers professional open water training courses in Shropshire, including lifeguard qualifications, paddlesport training and water safety courses. Delivered by experienced instructors on our open water site, our courses are ideal for those looking to start a career in outdoor activities or develop essential water safety skills.

Open Water Three Day Qualification (6th-8th April)

Complete this course and earn an open water lifeguard (OWL) qualification, which will equip you with the skills required to supervise and provide rescue in still or non-tidal water.

Open Water Lifeguard Training Day (10th April)

This training day is designed for those who hold a current OWL qualification and are wanting to earn training hours towards their renewal. It will provide you with 5 hours of OWL ongoing training. Useful for lifeguards working towards renewing their qualification

Open Water Lifeguard Training & Renewal Day (26th May)

This training day is designed for those who hold a current OWL qualification and are wanting to earn training hours and complete an OWL renewal assessment. Includes a 2 hour OWL asssessment.

Water Rescue and Safety Training (WRET)

The Water Rescue & Safety Training is an ideal qualification for those who work or live around a waterway or body of water including businesses with a responsibility for supervising the public near a body of water.

It is a 2 hour session which has been designed to be delivered in a dry environment and access to water is not required. This can either be delivered at Alderford Lake or at somewhere more convenient to you.

There is a competency assessment at the end of the session that includes verbal questions and a practical element demonstrating safe use of a throw bag.

The maximum number of candidates per training session is 12
